The Ship Launching Ceremony for This Cement Carrier Was an Incredible Spectacle

If you've ever been to a ship launch before, you can appreciate how incredible it is to celebrate such a momentous occasion. Even nowadays, building a ship is no easy task, so gathering around to see a massive vessel hit the water for the first time can be an absolutely breathtaking experience. So long as nothing goes wrong.

Thankfully, the below ship launch, which happened in the Netherlands back in 2015, went off without a hitch and made for one seriously awesome video. Talk about making a splash!

Now, the ship itself, called the M.V. Greenland, is a cement carrier, and in the below video description, we get a little bit more info about the massive vessel.

Per D. Davidson:

Launching of the "Greenland" on Oct. 31st, 2015 at Ferus Smit shipyard in Westerbroek, NL. The M.V. 'Greenland' is a dedicated cement carrier build for the joint venture JT cement, in which Erik Thun AB cooperates with KG Jebsen Cement from Norway. The vessel will be one of the first ever dry cargo vessels with an LNG fueled propulsion system.

This unique design incorporates a pressurized LNG tank positioned in the foreship. While sailing on LNG, the vessel will meet the most stringent emission criteria, as well as new norms that might be in place in futures for environmental sensitive areas.

There's something just triumphant and uplifting about witnessing a successful ship launch. Now, if you want to see what the exact OPPOSITE of that looks like, the below compilation video shows what happens when launches go terribly, terribly wrong. Consider this something of a bonus clip.
